Exploring Judaism and Nature through Worldwide Adventure Travel
There is a teaching in Jewish tradition that every person is obligated to experience and enjoy as much of Creation as possible. One teaching states that when a person dies, he or she will be asked to account for every marvel they did not see in the world.
Jewish Adventure Discovery & Education (JADE) Expeditions provides Jewish travelers the opportunity to experience the brilliance, beauty, and diversity of the earth and our connection to it.
JADE combines the thrill and wonder of adventure travel with a central tenet of Judaism: care for the earth. Each tour incorporates the core philosophies of environmental stewardship while traveling to the far reaches of the earth.
Whether exploring the rainforests of Costa Rica, hiking with game rangers through the African bush, or learning wilderness survival skills in the outback of Australia, JADE provides participants with a unique and exciting way to explore ancient Jewish ecological wisdom as it relates to contemporary Jewish life.
The JADE Experience
Small Group Travel Our tours are developed with young Jewish professionals in mind. Participants include singles, couples, or groups of friends looking for a shared travel experience. Programs are adventure-oriented and include moderate-level activities such as hiking, rafting, and sailing.
Custom Group Travel Custom travel programs are available for groups of any age, with activities and educational content tailored to the groups’ needs and interests. Organizations such as synagogues, Jewish Community Centers, Hillels, Federations, and camps can use tours as fundraisers and/or to create group cohesiveness. Our program provide the perfect venue and background for leadership training and organizational retreats.
Outstanding Educational Content Tours include interactive seminars and discussions on “Nature & Judaism,” on-site native wilderness training, “Tikkun Olam” social action programming, visits to historical Jewish sites, Jewish environmental study, and interaction with local indigenous and Jewish communities.
Sample “Nature & Judaism” programming can be seen on our resource center page.
Quality Leadership Each JADE tour is staffed with a full-time guide/educator who is responsible for all Jewish content, guiding, and logistics. Many trip leaders are naturalists, rabbis, and educators. Experts in engaging groups, they are dynamic and energetic professionals.
Premium Accommodations & Amenities JADE uses only premium properties for its tours. We choose comfortable, clean, and spacious lodgings, which are suitable for groups. All meals are kosher-style, nutritious, well-balanced, and plentiful. Vegetarian options are always available. Freshly-prepared under strict supervision, Glatt Kosher food is also available for custom-organized groups.
